As a young, energetic and hardworking boy, Dr Sodhi joined MBBS at Govt. Medical College, Faridkot in the year 1982. After clearing his final Professional Examination in 1986, he did his compulsory Rotatory Internship at General Hospital, Sector 16, Chandigarh in 1987. In the year 1988, he pursued two house jobs in the Surgery Dept. of DMCH Ludhiana. In 1989 he joined PCMS as Medical officer in a rural dispensary where he treated his patients with utmost sincerity and dedication. This was followed by working as an Emergency Medical Officer in Govt. Medical College and Hospital, Patiala. In 1996, to pursue his dreams, he joined M.D Ophthalmology in Govt. Medical College, Patiala and cleared it in 1999 with flying colours; following which he did another year of PCMS service. In the year 2001, he decided to begin private practice and joined Aggarsain hospital as Chief Eye Surgeon. He has a vast experience of doing around 12000 Cataract Surgeries, 100 Trabeculectomies, 100 Perforating injury repairs, 50 Squint Surgeries and 50 Ptosis surgeries till date.

His interest in doing charitable work for people has always been admired. He willingly performs around 200-250 free eye surgeries through various free eye camps every year. In 2013, along with Dr. Neelima Sodhi, he opened their joint venture Sodhi Eye Hospital where he is available in the evening for consultation.
