UVEITIS

It refers to the inflammation of the uvea which comprises Iris, ciliary body and the choroid. You could experience redness, pain, watering, seeing some shadows or a reduced vision in a quiet looking eye depending on the part which gets affected. It could be idiopathic, associated with various systemic infections or autoimmune diseases. It can happen at all ages, can last for a short, intermediate or long duration. It can also be of a reccuring type. It requires a thorough examination, lab tests along with a physician evaluation. The treatment includes medical, injections or surgical options. Initial, mild cases can only be managed with eye drops while severe, reccurant cases might need injections around or inside the eye to relieve your symptoms and restore your vision. It might also need long term medications to keep the chances of reccuring again to a minimum. The associated complications might need a surgical management.
